Women in Media, Equal or not?

This is obviously such a widely conversed topic that hits hard at home. When telling my family and friends that I specifically wanted to go into broadcasting and work within a popular television network the first response from everyone was "That's an extremely difficult field to get into especially as a woman, are you sure you want to do that?" Well HELL YEAH I do. I am sorry but whoever desired to do something that was easy to achieve? I am where I am because of difficult times. I don't want to take a job that is so easy to get, anyone can have it. I want to be seen as someone who worked hard, went through difficult times and fought to get where she is. When I see women like Erin Andrews and so much more, I am inspired. They all worked so diligently and hard to get to where they are. They are not seen as weak women. People think women just marry rich and get their careers from there. Well I am not going to marry rich. My husband will choose me because I will be the rich and successful one that doesn't need a mans money to get through my days.
Men hold a whopping 64.3% of the broadcasting media jobs with women only having 36%. Below is a link to an incredible article I read that not only gave me these stats but informed me on so much that many people don't know about women compared to men in media. It is so obvious that when a woman is talking about sports or news that a man and even a woman will change the channel to view and watch a man speak about those same matters. Can we please change this?! There is no difference between a man and a woman. This is not how we should decide on how we receive our information. This is something I will always fight for, equality. Because one day YOU will see me reporting on the sidelines and YOU will be impressed with my ability and courage and the way I give my content.
